The classification of historic vehicles aims to protect and preserve cars of historical interest, i.e. our heritage of classic vehicles. It also allows the conditions for driving these vehicles to be adapted to the current situation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

WHICH VEHICLES CAN BE REGISTERED OR CLASSIFIED AS HISTORIC?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

All<\/span><\/span> types<\/span><\/span> of<\/span><\/span> vehicles<\/span><\/span> can<\/span><\/span> be<\/span><\/span> registered<\/span><\/span> as<\/span><\/span> historic<\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/span> cars<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> vans<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> lorries<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> buses<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> motorcycles<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> mopeds<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> motorhomes<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> caravans<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> trailers<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> tractors<\/span><\/span> and<\/span><\/span> agricultural<\/span><\/span> vehicles<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> special<\/span><\/span> vehicles<\/span><\/span> and<\/span><\/span> any<\/span><\/span> vehicle<\/span><\/span> that<\/span><\/span> is<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> has<\/span><\/span> been<\/span><\/span> or<\/span><\/span> could<\/span><\/span> have<\/span><\/span> been<\/span><\/span> registered<\/span><\/span> at<\/span><\/span> some<\/span><\/span> point<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> Even<\/span><\/span> light<\/span><\/span> trailers<\/span><\/span> that<\/span><\/span> do<\/span><\/span> not<\/span><\/span> have<\/span><\/span> a<\/span><\/span> registration<\/span><\/span> number<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

WHAT<\/span><\/span><\/span> TECHNICAL<\/span><\/span><\/span> REQUIREMENTS<\/span><\/span><\/span> MUST<\/span><\/span><\/span> A<\/span><\/span><\/span> VEHICLE<\/span><\/span><\/span> MEET<\/span><\/span><\/span> IN<\/span><\/span><\/span> ORDER<\/span><\/span><\/span> TO<\/span><\/span><\/span> BE<\/span><\/span><\/span> REGISTERED<\/span><\/span><\/span> AS<\/span><\/span><\/span> HISTORIC<\/span><\/span><\/span>?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Royal Decree 892\/2024, which approves the Regulations on Historic Vehicles, vehicles that meet one of the following conditions may be classified as historic (Article 3 of the Regulations):<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Those that meet all of the following conditions:<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    a) They must have been manufactured or registered for the first time at least thirty years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

    b) Their specific types are no longer in production.<\/span><\/p>\n

    c) They are in their original condition, without having undergone any fundamental changes in terms of their technical characteristics or main components, such as the engine, brakes, steering, suspension or bodywork (with exceptions determined during the vehicle inspection), and are in a proper state of maintenance and conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Vehicles included in the General Inventory of Movable Assets of Spanish Historical Heritage<\/strong>, or declared to be of cultural interest, and those of special interest because they belonged to a prominent figure or were involved in an event of historical significance, as documented. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If the vehicle has been modified in any way, please ask us and we will let you know if it is eligible.<\/span><\/p>\n

      WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF REGISTERING AS A HISTORIC VEHICLE?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      The main advantages for owners of historic vehicles are:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Longer MOT inspection periods.<\/strong> Depending on the type of vehicle and its age, the MOT inspection periods will be as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
